Johnella, I don't know if this will help, but the mainstream church is wrong in its teaching about the Holy Spirit. She is female, not male. You can find out more about this by googling the Quartz Hill school of theology. There is an article on their website called, "More than must a controversy, all about the Holy Spirit" by RP Nettelhorst. The article is divided into several sections. You can scroll down to the section entitled "Is there a question about the gender of the Holy Spirit?" There is also a second article by the same author somewhere on the website where it gives a breakdown of every time in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was talked about. Every time the Holy Spirit was mentioned, she was always referred to as female, not male. There is also another website called CBE international. It contains an article called "The feminine imagery of God in the Hebrew Bible." The reason I think this might be relevant to Anita's son is that I am afraid that the fact the mainstream church has hidden this from everyone might be the reason why Anita's son is struggling with homosexuality now. If he knew God as God really is--the masculine and the feminine--then this might not be a problem. God the father is male, God the Holy Spirit is female. I guess she might be our mother?
